Ive been seriously looking into trucking originally was going with prime inc but the fam has REALLY been pushing to just choose closest options possible. I am looking to be otr for a year or 2 then try some college afterwards transitioning my skills over to something better fitting to. A couple places im interested in Schneider, ruan though they have no listing for school on their site, and c.r. england. Any recommendations/advice I thank you in advance. I also looked into roehl transport but I definitely dont have 10,000 miles on me right now.

Former Navy submariner culinary specialist with pride.

Also Id like the training to not be separate like Schneider, even though it is on top of my list. Shouldn't make too much a difference though.

My friend on the ship was a cook and would call me when he had fresh bread baking. You could smell me walking down the passageway with a couple of hot fresh baked loaves under my jacket.

Millis has a real good reputation; good training and good paychecks.
That cook and me were both hashmark E-3's and because of that, were able to bend the rules and nothing was said. I know it's not that way these days.
Best wishes on your new career; it's a real good career.

Good to see fellow bubbleheads on here. It was an MS when I was in. I was an SK, now I hear that name has changed too. Live in GA and also thinking about getting into it. Check out Millis Transfer in Cartersville. I think one of their trainers is a bubblehead. Good Luck

Millis is ok, but your stuck in the Eastern states. Roehl National Fleet runs 48 states.

I like to tell people to go to the nearest truck stop and write down the names of the companies with trucks there. Those companies will get you home. Then talk to the different drivers and ask them about their companies. If they have any pay stubs look at them. Then you might ask for a referral.
It is always good to get an opinion from someone actually working there.

One word of warning about home.

Do Not tell company you are going home. If you happen to be there and out of hours... horray! That is how I do it.

I once wanted to visit my long lost brother with whom I have a love and hate relationship constantly being rebuilt... I told boss Im a take off in indy to see family. Prior to that 3 day off I spent months bumming round indy and courting some lasses. I could not get out of Indy.

Well... the boss got me away from indy and it would be years before I saw it again. Apparently he must have hate the idea that there is a truck off duty for 3 days and cannot be loaded.
