2008 Volvo 780 D16, new turbo last November. Since then, each time it rained, intermittent 5 volt code, inactive EGR differential code, inactive mechanical code MID128 PPID330 FM17, with sporadic boost, which affects regen. Problem has progressed to constant sporadic boost and 5 volt code which never stays active. Main wiring harness from cab has been checked and is ok, numerous diagnostics have been done, but without active codes, can't diagnose. Volvo said we have to wait until it gets worse so that it has active codes. Truck is basically inoperable. Finally Volvo got in touch with engineers and it was suggest that we replace EGR Differential Pressure Sensor. No luck. Anybody have any suggestions as to what the problem is?

I know in D12 Egr position Sensor will throw out this code but im pretty sure D16 Shouldn't have it. It is very possible its one of your three pin sensors like oil psi, boost psi sensors of this nature possible one is shorting out. check by the turbo the connections for the wastegate make sure they do not have any corrosion in connectors I have seen that a few times causing all sorts of trouble and finally it could also be the turbo actuator itself shorting out affecting your 5v supply circuit.

Hi,what kind of fan clutch the truck is equipped ?
We spent a long time on a truck with D-13 engine with Boost sensor circuit code and finally we end-up with a 5 volts corrosion problem in the fan clutch harness plug (on front of the engine LH mounted on a little braket)
Note: That circuit is use when you have a viscus fan BUT when you have an air fan there is a cap over that plug and the can be miss and corrosion built up inside and the 5 volts wire is there and it's the same 5 volts circuit who supply the boost sensor.
    Hope this help.
