I know smoking is very common among truckers, but how about non-smokers will they get lung cancer from diesel fumes.

Don't forget, you would be sitting on 200 gallons of diesel fuel that could explode in a crash. So why bother.

It's the story CARB told to justify messing over the whole trucking industry. The problem is that there is no evidence to back it up. The professor that called them out on it was promptly fired and won a huge settlement from them.

Sure if your driving a 1960 diesel and have exhaust leaks ... Most modern trucks air going into engine is sometimes dirtier than air coming out health wise .. Processed foods are probably worse for you cancer wise

If the regen fumes don't kill you, the 24 hour old roller dogs will.

Back in the sixties, I worked with a guy who was terrified that his smoking was going to give him cancer. So he quit smoking and started on sunflower seeds. And gained weight. A WHOLE LOT of weight. So he got off the sunflower seeds and went to chewing on tooth picks. Then he started to worry about what kind of diseases he could pick up from chewing on something that was bulk packed and likely not very sanitary. Then he started worrying about ingesting feces from the bark beetle.

The whole point of my post is this: WORRYING is much more likely to get to you than anything else is. If you worry about everything that can hurt you, you might as well swallow the barrel and get it over with.:biggrin_25512::biggrin_25513:

Lung cancer is an exceedingly rare disease, though it is very lethal and thus scary. Most lung cancers come from smoking, asbestos or genetic disposition, but are one of the rarest forms of cancer.

It is chronic, lifelong diseases like emphysema, asthma, COPD that should warrant our attention and concern. Environment absolutely contributes (including smoking) to developing one of the conditions that will slowly and painfully steal your life away, one breath at a time.
