Been pulling a loaner 53' Manac Step with a 2009 mid roof Cascadia,.. first trailer I've pulled with the J-plate slots in the bed.
Coming from a 53' Fontaine with recessed chains in the bed,.. I much prefer the chain pop ups.
The J-hook slots became a source of frustration for me as bungee hooks and any time I laid a chain on the bed,.. they seemed to love to get snagged in the slots.
Just thought I would share my experience,.. as I am in the market for another trailer and after my experience with this one,.. J-Plates are definitely out for me.
Picking my truck and trailer up tomorrow morning. I definitely learned to appreciate what I have compared to running someone elses uncared for equipment.

Thanks for bringing up another old thread. J Track is like having a Cadillac and chain pull outs are more like a Buick.
icsheeple Thanks this. -
Yea, but us old farts like the reliabilty versus the flashy show. lol
peterbilt_2005, tsavory and taxihacker66 Thank this. -
Both are a pain to use in the snow and ice

There is a cure for that.. Take the winters off..
peterbilt_2005, tsavory and icsheeple Thank this. -

I've had both. and none of my trailers have them right now. And I cuss at myself everyday for not having any.

Anyway.. carry on fella's.
And yeah.. winter time is never pleasant. Even ornery Cluck can agree.
HurstChewy352 Thanks this. -
I didn't like the j track. Chain pulls are better for me. If you do a lot of narrow stuff I can see a j hook advantage.
