For those hired recently, how long did the process take? I have applied, spoke via text to someone at Roehl, got my CDL permit and license info submitted. No accidents, no DUI/DWI ever, no speeding in 30 years. I am older, 52, but I am hoping that doesn't hurt me. Trying to get on the CDL School program.

Just curious how long the process takes and if they decide not to hire you do they tell you or like some companies just not call? So far it has been a positive experience.

You picked a good company. I hear they have special storage slots for walkers, dash-mounted denture holders and magnifying windshields as standard equipment just for old coots like you. :p

Apparently there is one with a vacuum function but I think that might be used for a whole other purpose.

They should be getting back with you by monday or tuesday. The average age of a driver is like 48.As long as you dont have any huge gaps in your work history then you will be on your way. Stay away from reefer and go flat bed or dry van. Reefer will have you driving the night shift.

Rachi, I am leaning towards Dry Van, would love to go national and then maybe stay in the Southeast. But I will go where the money is for the first year or so.

Take my advice.....go National Fleet or one of the dedicated fleets. I was regional for 6 months.....just about the time I was ready to walk I switched to dedicated. Could not be happier.
