I understand your situation perfectly if the 11 hr period is up how can you legally drive on the highway? However that don't mean you can park illegally either it always amazed me how trucks would be parked all the way out to the freeway which always poses a risk for those that need to exit i found it was just easier to drive illegal till you see a Walmart and then get off and park there i never got asked to leave there parking lot although i'd always go in and buy something that way i could always say i was a customer.

    Really???
This is why the trucking industry will continue to decay because people like your self have no idea what the words professional driver really means.

    Again the facts are:
I was parked on the edge well within the rest area not out by the highway.
No signs, just green poles with white blank signs on them.
And can someone please for the love of god answer why before you get in the rest area there is a sign that clearly states NO OVERNIGHT PARKING but that law is not enforced at all?

Also in the northeast there is a no idle law.
So this would translate into: I understand that it's -30 out side and you don't have an apu but it doesn't give you right to illegally idle your truck to keep from freezing to death.
Time to get back to old school common sense.
I think a man from the mountains of N.C. Said it best.

What are going to call me out in a street fight?
Will you be wearing your clown out fit like you wearing in your avatar picture?

But you weren't in a legal parking space. In all likelihood that officer didn't know who had been there all night but he could tell who was illegally parked and since they are under a specific directive to enforce that, they did. Welcome to life, it can be unfair.

That might be a good analogy except for the adverse conditions exceptions.
