    Hi,

Does anyone know the proper weights per axle on 53 foot tridems and 72inch bunker tractors.

Also, is there a link to know where the axle pins should be?

Knowledge of trucks = safer roads for us!

Rand McNally Motor Carrier Road Atlas has all of this information.

Curious what a 72 sleeper has to do with anything?

Perhaps this should have been a question you should have asked your carrier before operating the truck? That would have been a lot safer than just taking the keys and rolling off.

In the US, tandem axles are 34,000, and front axles are the minimum of tire rating or axle rating. In many cases, and for the sake of being easy, it is 12,000, for a max vehicle weight of 80,000.

There are a few states that have a maximum kingpin to axle length, but besides those states, the correct placement is so that no axle group exceeds the limit.

72 inch bunk means nothing these days. The days of the cab over engine for purposes of 77,250 weight limits are long over.

COE's were for length, the weight in some states was 73,280.

I remember as a kid, when we crossed the Missouri, into Iowa, we slid the fifth wheel to make length. West, it was 65, east it was 55. The only way to make 55 with a 45' trailer was to have no larger a cab than 86".

I don't care how much things have changed. I still think 250 pounds on a woman is fat.

My rule of thumb is that she is my weight or less.
