Well its counterpoise for these trucks..Been looking at ham stuff to see if i can make something work on the mobile side....

Based on that dipole pic,ill have to change mounts and get a longer base shaft and a 2nd ant mount....Unless i can attach a mount to add the 2nd antenna on the 40" shaft..
I get lotsa skip..I have talked to a ham station 30 mi away..I have talked to another driver who said he was about 90 mi away but im guessing all those contacts were skip related...I said before that the cb man in carlisle pa transmits and i get him about 20-30 mi away, not really clear by that time and weak but i hear him..He cant hear me unless closer radios drown me out..Truck to truck i loose them in 5 miles or less..
How does one tune the lower part of a di pole, same as the top side ant??

Ground element tuned in relationship to the hot element. Both must be resonant for it to work.
Both must be isolated from dc ground.

It does the same as what I did here...

Both elements are isolated from dc ground via plastic spacers.

    Point hot up
    Point ground down
    Stud connects both

    Easier to comprehend.
Dc ground and RF ground must not touch for it to work.
