I have been a controller/Traffic Manager for some time now. I would like to begin to dispatch for owner operators with their own Authority. I am new to dispatching but have a great understanding on how to support carriers and shippers. Any tips on how to find an owner operator that will give me a chance to keep them loaded and rollen?

I had a broker doing dispatch on the side. She handled 5 of us. Did very well. She charged a flat $100 per week.

I'm going to need a broker/dispatcher as soon as I get all my ducks in order. I'm new to all this, don't mind helping others if I can, and I know one thing. One hand washes the other hand. I think it's great the way truckers help each other out. It's awesome !! The information is incredible.

To be honest I think I am just going to be an agent. Which means I will want to find a reliable carrier. And keep that carrier loaded and rollen.

There are a lot of carriers who use agents. Most will want you to bring a book of business with you. If you don't have business you can bring with you right now, you might find an agent who will work with you and get your feet wet. If this is the direction you wish to pursue, I would call carriers who have agents and see what they say. CRST, Universal Truckload and Landstar all have agents. Those are just a few that I am aware. There are other carriers. Another option might be to apply at some of the brokerages. Some might be willing to train you.
