Sorry to voice an obvious question, have you checked the RF gain? All the way counterclockwise will give you almost zero receive.

Yup, took it back to the place that sold it to me ~5 months ago (wee communications at the 201 on 75 in GA)
They tested it and it had no recieve signal, their oscilloscope was down so they couldn't tell me exactly why, but gave me the number of the shop they use for ranger warranty. Gonna send it in.
