    Hi guys,
I want to work part time for ODOT someday maybe seasonally will see someday and I've never driven a big snow plow before right now because of my job with GFS I can't really work part time anywhere and GFS pays better and is more steady then ODOT yadda yadda yadda, but I would like to work for ODOT one day and I know it's possible because they hire Class A and B guys seasonally all the time.

Anyhow what is the training like for driving there snow plows or driving the snow plow and the tow plow?

    Thanks

They hire seasonally heck sometimes they have ads on the radio asking for help. Usually around August/September they put out a big banner in front of there garage looking for seasonal snow plow drivers. The city I live in hires seasonally too, for snow plow guys not a bad job if you're retired or have the time. I actually was real close to getting a city job, but I made more money working private sector and they didn't want me because of that.

What part of the state are you in? Just curious... I've heard its a lot easier to get on with ODOT up north because of job competetion. Better paying jobs up north keep the ODOT garages short staffed at times.
As I understand it, you would get the same training no matter your experience. If you've operated a plow truck for 30yrs, you will recieve the same hrs of training as someone with 0 experience.
You are also hired for a probation period of 6 mths, and will work with no contract, no benefits, and lower pay for the duration of your probation. This is also true for 'seasonal' employees.
I dont work for ODOT, this is just as I understand it from my own inquiries.
    Hope this helps...good luck

Yes it does I was on Route 2 heading the other direction the day that accident happened right out there in Lake County. One of our trucks that goes out to Chardon, got back to the yard about 6:30pm that night. He said he was just creeping along from stop to stop at 10 miles per hour.
