Has anyone been driving a Pete 579 since they've been out and what is your general opinion on the truck, especially as far as reliability, handling, comfort, and customer support by the Peterbilt people?
I've been driving a Volvo 780 and considering a trade on either a new 780 or a new Pete 579, with cummins isx, but haven't seen a lot of opinions on the 579.

First off, you're going to be downsizing from a 77" Condo Sleeper into a 66" Mid Roof Sleeper with a lot less storage and interior space then the Volvo.

If you can live with that, than you have the choice between the problematic PACCAR MX13 engine vs. the Cummins ISX15, which has its share of problems also.

For the least troublesome combo, I would stay with a Volvo 780, D13 with a 13 speed manual. The I-Shift may be nice, but it's another electronically controlled part of the truck that can act up at any time.

cm2350 isx engine is not bad. we have a Volvo with that engine and only one nox sensor is replaced, the engine has 320k miles. however d13 is more fuel efficient

Yes that true, any ISX15 2014 or newer is a good choice.

At the present time the CM2350 and the D13 are both good choices.

The ISX being more of the powerhouse vs the D13 good power and fuel economy.

My Pete 579 has 105,000 on it. Has the isx15 in it. It's a company truck, but I treat it like it's mine. The truck has been great. No problems. The motor is rated at 425hp. It pulls good, and no problems yet.

I believe the 579 has a roomer interior than its predecessor on a now 80" sleeper, not quite as roomy as the Volvo but not bad. The frig is smaller and no roomy table.
From what I've learned the post 2015 cummins isx engine is better over the earlier as it has been updated/corrected issues with piston rings...so a better engine. I'm not considering a paccar engine.
The overall price on the Pete is lower as Volvo seems to have more than upped this years pricing.
I'm mainly interested in hearing folks experience running the 579 since they've been available.

I got a new fedex freight volvo thats was manufactured nov 2015. It has cummins isx15 but not sure if it is cm2350. But the bad thing is that who ever was in charge of fleet lowered the torque instead 1550 ft lb, it is 1450 ft lb. Pulling at 13k pounds, always drops to 8th gear on I-80 in PA.
