Unless you actively opt out by sending an email to the address above, the crooks at Pilot will make additional profits off of you by selling any info that they have collected from your MyRewards card.

In this day of you as the commodity or your use data is.
This should not come as a surprise. If you read almost any type of user agreement related to some form of reward, loyalty, or discount program, you will find this same type of language and or clause.

The data you generate from the use of these cards is very valuable. From manufacturers to marketers and more, your data gets collected and aggregated into a profile.

In a short period of time using these cards can provide a lot of information.

I'm not surprised at all, except maybe at the fact that they haven't been doing it all along. I'm just trying to give my fellow drivers a heads up.

@8thnote, thanks for the heads-up. I didn't think I received that email and just checked all of my folders (inbox, deleted, junk mail, etc) and sure enough, it was not there. Went to the PFJ website and looked at the T&C. The new statement regarding the sharing of your information and the ability to opt out is stated, as you show in the screen shot.

I quickly sent an email opting out, not that it will do much good.

information from loyalty cards has always been sold to other marketing companies, that is why they were created. To collect information about what you purchased. Pilot is just going to share the information with even more people now.

    A) Don't sign up with your real name

    B) Don't sign up with your real phone number

    C) Don't sign up with your real email

= Don't worry about who they sell info to

Hope you don't have any apps on your phone ... how do you think they're making money with those "free" apps? ... The data those apps gather off your phone is much more valuable than the pop ads they throw at you.
