I need some advice from y'all more experienced drivers. Long story short. I'm a L/O with Prime, I need new tires bad, technically only 3 of 6 but I want them all done. 2 of the tires have a nail or something in them. One can't be patched, one was earlier this week but is still leaking air. The third tire looks like somebody took a cheese grater to the threads. It's about time for all new tires all the way around so I was going to get all 6 done (super singles). Prime said no to the request. My PSI in the 3 bad tires after being filled up 2 hours ago are 45, 75, 64. I know these tires won't pass a dot and the mechanic said I'd be lucky if I made it thru the weekend before blowing one. Here's what I need advice on: Prime has told me to drive to Springfield, Mo because they get a better deal on tires there. (I pay for the tires) Currently I am in Baltimore supposed to be headed to Texas in the morning. I know I can refuse to drive but what steps do I need to take to do so? I'm a member of OOIDA do i need to call them or do I just need to wait till in the morning and talk with someone not on nightshift? I've just heard stories of companies charging drivers with abandonment or hurting their dac in situations like this. Any advice is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Do you have a tread depth gauge? I'd be interested to see what that tells you. Otherwise, according to our all-knowing Uncle Sam, you are NOT allowed to drive a commercial vehicle that has safety defects. If Prime decides to can you for that, you just won the lawsuit.

They charge you mileage for a tire maintenance account, yet you can't make decisions regarding your money from your maintenance account.

You're a lease operator, there is no forced dispatch. So, if you refuse to drive, it is your right under your operating contract.

You're really wasting your time when you talk to night dispatch, that idiot that sits there and plays video games all night and sounds annoyed when you call. My guess is, there isn't a safety officer on duty either. Talk to safety and tell them about the problem. Also tell them about how you can get a second opinion at that scale to the west of Baltimore on 70.

Isn't that ridiculous...going all the way from Texas from Baltimore and some desk jockey is suggesting that you go to Missouri for a tire discount. That's beancounting at it's finest. Yea, save money on tires, but waste a day and an extra tank of fuel. They need to get you back to Missouri so that they can get you a set of used tires that they pulled off of a company truck and charge you full rate. You get porked twice and have to pay for it.

How does that make you feel, driver? Like a red headed stepchild with a humpback, a limp and a stutter with freckles? Do you like the circus?

The tread depth ranges from 6/32 to 8/32.

Make sure your measuring from the wear indicators.

Lease operator getting walked on, hard to believe.

Lighten up, icsheeple. You can't fault anybody for doing what they want in the hope of being successful. That's why we get out of bed every day. Tmike, as far as your tread depth there should be some more wear available. You need to find out if there are leaks- patches, cracks, valve stems, or even the bead if the tires won't hold air. Assuming the above measurements are correct the tires should make it to Springfield.

You do NOT measure from the wear indicators, you measure from the bottom of the groove.

tire depth is legal. Won't hold air, says you got a nail in one, #### get those fixed.
