Are you running low pro 22.5 tires? Because even with that, we drop all our air and can not get under the trailer still so we just stick with tall 24.5 tires but that is not the only reason for that.

Yeah, I don't think you could still get under our trailers. They sit pretty low. You might also think about putting some plating on the inside of the rear slope, that is gonna take a beating there.

It might work though as our mouse traps have been used an abused so the necks drop a little. Here is the only photo that gives a profile of the ramps on my truck that I have.

The rollers normally hit the short angle at the very back and roll up to take up the slack then it starts picking up the trailer as it goes up the longer slope. And that is with the air dropped in the suspension.

You will never know until you back up to the trailer and either cheer or swear.

Welding that close to the top flange is this a good idea?or is that a whole piece bolted to the chassis

It's bolted. Nothing was welded to the frame itself

    Pipe 40 Thanks this.

Questions for you mechanical neck fellows:
    1) Do you need to have the fifth wheel plate all the way back to roll under the neck?
    2) If so, do you then have to block under the trailer and dump the air in order to take the weight off to slide forward, or how does that work?
I have a hydraulic (wet kit, took the Honda off) neck and so there is no issue.

I leave the pin that holds the neck on in place, don't do up the bottom( It's hard to explain) lol dump the air and slide the fifth wheel with the deck on the ground still.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

I know this is a hydraulic neck but I basically mean whatever those 2 things are called when the neck hooks in. On mechanical you need to put them in yourself. I wish I had a better photo of what I mean with my mechanical neck.
