Wondering if anyone has any advice for removing seized Budd lug nuts. I've got an old rear suspension snip I've pillaged all the useable parts from. Just want to pull the wheels so its easier to take the housings to the scrap yard. Problem is the outer lug nuts are seized on. My big IR impact won't do it. Even heated up a few nuts cherry red and they still won't move. Yes I had the gun turning the right way lol.

What I've done on regular 33mm nuts is take a plasma cutter and very carefully cut a notch on two of the eight sides directly across from each other. Cut as close to the threads as possible without hitting the threads. That weakened the nut enough that it flexed and let it spin loose. That of course was on a customer's truck that was still needing to be on the road. Could you just simply torch these off if its scrap? Maybe the wheels are still good?

I've seen shops bang on them back and forth with a hammer. Better yet, cut them off. Worst design ever!

Well there are stainless steel covers and top hats inside the rims I'd like to try and save. I don't plan on re-using them but I know someone could probably use them.

So the nuts, not the outer studs? If it's the nuts, I take a chisel ( air chisel preferred) and open up 1 flat. ( or a "nut buster", if you have one that big) That usually frees up the nut.

I even went and grabbed my biggest gun at 1,800 ft-lbs breakaway torque with the nuts heated cherry red. Wouldn't budge them.

Not 1 of the 40 nuts would budge unfortunately. I may just slice a groove out of each nut with the torch and see how that works.

Heat red, throw a cup of water on it and if it won't come off with impact then you gonna have to cut it off. I do manifold studs same way sorta, weld a washer then a nut and pour water on and majority of the time they unscrew by hand without a wrench. You have to be quick red, water, and impact.
