Shooting skip

I need to get a ssb radio back into my big truck. I like dxing when there's not much else goin on, makes time go a little faster. Got a pretty good set-up in my pickup, and a decent base, just haven't been on much lately since conditions are hit and miss this time of year. I'm 090 so. Buckeye on sideband. Hopefully we can make contact some day. 73's

 

Been getting allot of Australia and New Zealand in the late afternoons right before dark on 38 lsb.

 

I still haven't got my base station up and going.....guess I'll just have to shoot skip a different way!

 

About a year or so ago I was near Detroit was picking up a guy from Northern Ireland and this was on my regular uniden pc78. What gives?
Recently bought a uniden 980ssb. Haven't tried the ssb. yet

 

Farest I ever got was on AM side 4watt only with a Cobra148GTL with a K40 magnet mount inbetween two lakes on a hot summer day reached to Brazil in South America, even got a skip card from him. God knows what kind of watts he was putting out.

If you shoot skip with that, you're just gonna pizz him off !! You have NO excuse for not having your base up and going by now.

 

LOL.......I know, but it is still a future project. I am gathering everything up for it and still plan to do it.....

Volvo 244 t what type of Antenna system you running there so what is the total output power on your Stryker I'm going have to ask on other radio forums about that striker about the power it swings
