    I just installed a cobra 29ltd classic in a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia.
What is the range for this guy to talk/hear others.

    Thanks!

  3. Are you using the stock installed coax cable?

Did you have a shop tune your antenna?

If you put the radio in a car, I'll hear you 30 miles down the road. Since it is in the Cascadia, I would probably hear you about 10 miles and the average person would hear you about 3 miles

Is that due to the antenna being in the fairing?

The Freightliner Cascadia is a less than desirable vehicle to broadcast from. no matter what you do it will never perform as well as if it was in your car with a magnet mount directly in the center of the roof of your car's roof.

  8. What trailer are you using? Flat, dry, refer?

Is this your truck or company ride?

    Reefer. Company truck

  10. Well your limited to putting boles in a company ride.

    What you should do is.
Run a better coax cable to a mounting point that has a true ground.(grounded to battery)
Have a radio shop tune your antenna thru the coax cable you bought.
Fire up radio. Probably have 2 maybe up to 5 mile range.

Now being a company ride, you would technically just leave the coax with the truck after install. Since it would be to hard to remove. Get a location to mount An antenna.
Take radio and antenna if you leave or change trucks.

    rabbiporkchop and Kry0n Thank this.
