Silgan dedicated trailers

    I used to be a Silgan driver a few years ago when I was with roehl. Lately I've been seeing your trailers that have the doors on the sides. Just curious what those are for as we did not have those when I was there.

    Hauling coils. Tie downs are built into the flooring.

    Thanks for this thread....I've seen these around and wondered also. I heard a rumor that Silgan actually owns these trailers....even though Roehl's logo is on them, that true?

    I believe they are still owned by roehl, but I'm sure Silgan still calls a lot of the shots. Of course things may have changed in the years since I left.

    Sometimes I kinda miss doing the silgan runs, I met some good folks out there.

    The way they are working the side door trailers now is to haul in coil and haul out cans. Dual purpose trailers. Saves trying to find another hybrid trailer load. The drivers are part of the Specialized fleet not the Silgan Cans fleet which is Dry Van.
