I know this is probably a simple fix and a "duh" question but I got a little drip at one of the hose connections. I can tell its loose because I can move it by hand. ----Problem is, when I tighten it the whole hose moves and the tension makes it un-loosen again,,, and it makes the hose kink up and I don't want to rip or tear it. So I'm trying to come up with a solution.--- I wanted to take the hose out and put it back in with thread sealant but I'm afraid if I take that hose off, transmission oil going to come oozing out... But I took pictures and wanted to know what you experienced hands would do in this situation.

Grab two 7/8 wrenchs.
Put 1 on to hold the fitting in the cooler and another wrench to undo the line.
Once line is off , undo the fitting in cooler and put teflon tape on the threads . Install fitting back into cooler till tight then thread the hose back onto the fitting. Done .Duckman1005 and HopeOverMope Thank this. -

No all the oil will not come pouring out.
You will lose a bit though. Probley a cup or so.
Fix the line quickly . Run the truck for a minute then shutdown and check the oil level in trans. If it has been leaking for quite some time it will need toping up anywayHopeOverMope Thanks this. -
I've never topped a transmission or check levels, I usually let speedco do it. But I assume the check will be on the side somewhere and the fill on top? -
Use 2 wrenches, hold the fitting on the hose and tighten the adapter going into trans then tighten the hose. The hose fitting should turn without turning the hose, just may need a little work to get it to turn.

The fill plug is on the drivers side of trans.
Just fill it till it comes out the plug and your full.HopeOverMope Thanks this. -
---so now, I don't know. I fixed the leak and got another one lol... Will probably have to build a splice with a piece of brass or get a new hose and re use the fittingsLast edited: Sep 28, 2016

That hose is pretty cheap. Take the old one to just about any NAPA or O'Rielly's and they can make a new one just like it in a minute.
HopeOverMope Thanks this.
