So there I was enjoying driving across the country all over the US (mainly the south east/ mid west) when I ran into this hours of service conundrum now me being the green driver I am come here to ask a simple question
these are my hours for the following days
on duty total on duty last 7 days 70 hour hours available
    24 june 0 0 70
    25 june 4 4 66
    26 june 10.25 14.25 55.75
    27 june 12 26.25 43.75
    28 june 12.25 38.5 31.5
    29 june 11.75 50.25 19.75
    30 june 13.25 63.5 6.5

So my question is I know tomorrow july1st I will have 6.5 and on the 2nd I will have 4 hours now do I gain the 10.25 from the 26th after a ten hour break or is that hours gain on the 3rd of july? Also the hills around Menlo, GA man that was one hell of a climb lol. So far I have enjoyed my first week with SNI just need some help figuring this out, thanks for any help.

    You are correct.

When running off recap, your hours come back at midnight in your home time zone.

No. You can not use more than 70 hrs in any EIGHT day period unless you do a 34 hr reset/restart. You would get the 4 hrs on the 3rd. Why are you showing so much time on duty each day? You certainly need a reset/restart.

Why is he showing so many hours on duty? My guess is because he spent that many hours on duty, and he isn't wanting to falsify his logs.

    25 june 4 4 66
    26 june 10.25 14.25 55.75
    27 june 12 26.25 43.75
    28 june 12.25 38.5 31.5
    29 june 11.75 50.25 19.75
    30 june 13.25 63.5 6.5

25th will be considered day 1
day 1 worked 4 have 66 available for day 2
day 2 worked 10.25 have 55.75 available for day 3
day 3 worked 12 have 43.75 available for day 4
day 4 worked 12.25 have 31.50 available for day 5
day 5 worked 11.75 have 19.75 available for day 6
day 6 worked 13.25 have 6.5 available for day 7
    day 7
    you can work 6.5 hours.
    day 8
you will not gain the hours back from day 1 until day 8 is completed, or to be more exact at 12:00 AM on day 9 you will gain back the 4 hours from day 1.

You are kind of forced into a reset at this point. It would be the smarter way to go.

Then he will quit the industry soon enough because he isn't making any money. Or he will go local. I don't think I've ever logged anything other than a PTI and fueling on duty. Been inspected numerous times and never had a problem.

Where in the OP did he state he wasn't making enough money? The question was HOS related.

Maybe he is hauling a flatbed and has to show some time tarping and chaining. Try explaining to the DOT that tarp Houdini'd it's way onto the load.

Right, cause no flatbedder has ever done that. I was the only one. DOT won't even ask about that. Do you really think they are going to call up the shipper and ask? Even if they do, take the ticket, you made way more saving all the hours over the hundreds of loads you didn't get inspected.

That's why you keep tarp fairies in the sidebox ... as long they have their own logs you're legal.

It isn't the ticket you should be worried about. Suppose some drunk runs a red light and loses his head under your trailer. His family's attorney subpoenas your driver file, including your log books, and realizes you've never spent any time loading or unloading...and then starts looking into what all was hauled and what sort of time SHOULD have been logged on line 4, going so far as to get time logs from the places where you loaded and unloaded to see when you arrived and when you departed. He'll redraw the logs as they should've been drawn IF you had been logging legally, and if his rendition of the logs has you over hours, well that's a world of trouble heading your way because he'll argue the deceased would still be alive had you not falsified your log book, because you wouldn't have been where you were to have him crash into you.
