Leave your truck in Atlanta and fly home. It'll be cheaper.

The only way to make it here is to offer a very niche-based service to a few companies who need it. I know one guy that lives south of I-4 that hauls Conestoga freight for a woodwork millshop down in Naples. If it wasn't for that freight he may as well leave his truck in Jacksonville.

There's very few manufacturing companies throughout the state. Of those companies very few make anything that would need flatbed transportation. Best of luck. I tried it years ago.

    How far south?

There are a few good sources for loads coming out of Fla. Coca Cola/Minute Maid OJ was a regular when I was doing reefer work. Now doing Step Deck its usually OD tanks coming out of a place in Orlando or I have another place that builds crematoriums in Tampa to a dealer out in PA. Else I get my dispatcher to spend a week putting together a main load with a partial.

Sod is probably your best bet. But it probably wont be going further than Jax. Its about the only thing that moves south to north nere

South Florida is proably one of the worst places in the country to end up with a flatbed. I run out of central Florida nd I DH to Savannah most of the time unless I see something decent in Orlando or Jacksonville. I wont even take a load from central Fla to south Fla unless it pays for the trip back out empty.

I have to agree,.. seems the magic line is I4. Anything going south of it should be paying enough to deadhead back out.

Florida is a bad area and the rates going in and coming out are not good. I was told by my broker friend that there are tons and tons of ready to retire truckers down there just running their trucks into the ground and then their done.
