Starting issues

    I have a 04 Freightliner Columbia 14 liter,when I turn the key to start it,it just clicks.I have to bump the key multiple times for it to start.Once it starts the volts say 12.7,but in about 5 minutes of running it goes to 14.2.It has new batteries and a new starter,any suggestions?

    CK. the extra sol. on outside of firewall and sol. on starter with volt meter to be sure both are getting 12v. to starter when key is trying to start ?

    Check all connections and solenoid.

    It may be the solenoid on the firewall. On my 07 Columbia I JUST had the same issues. We replaced the solenoid and had same symptoms. Come to find out it was the starter.

    probably either solenoid or power cables from battery
