So I have a 2007 Volvo 670 and the steering would get tough .I took it to 2 shops neither thought it was the gear box or the steering shaft. They both thought it was the pump so I changed my king pins and my pump and serviced the bottle it was good for 2 days and now the steering is tough again it goes in and out. They checked my drive line and changed a u joint before the pump any ideas.

Steering that gets tight and loose sounds like a problem between the steering box and wheel to me. Shafts not properly aligned will do that, they don't all align like a driveshaft. Because yours started and no work had been done to it I vote for a bad steering universal joint. If it's shaft-joints it happens about every 1/4 or 1/2 turn. If they do not have a pressure-flow meter to test it go down the road. Look at another truck like yours and see if the shafts are alined the same.

I had 2008 780 that did the samething. It was the steering shaft.
