Just purchased a T700 from MHC, took it out for a week and I am averaging about 3.2 mpg, pulling 31,000 flat terrain. I took it to the dealership and they are wanting $1400 for overhead adjustment and a fuel control valve. Speaking to some veterans out there, does this sound like the thing that should resolve the issue?

If it's brand new , it will take a while to get broken in,,,,,,,,,I'm assuming.

Your biggest problem is you're putting gas in it

Is there a Yelp for diesel shops? sounds like all you need is a second or third opinion and a cheaper deal

What year, what engine, check air filter, check muffler-have them check the overhead.

You've just bombarded us with all this information, we don't know what to do with it all!

2012 KW t700, 470k miles, Paccar MX. That is all the information the dealership gave me so far. Waiting until morning to decide what to do. Like I said, they said I need an overhead adjustment and fuel control valve. I'll call around tomorrow.

Is it blowing smoke? if not I doubt if the fuel control valve. Are the valve real loud. and is if egr? if it is, with 470, and never replace, it probable is on it's way out. how is the power ?

No smoke, power seems fine. I'm coming out of a 15 Volvo 780, seems comparable, if not a little better toting the load up inclines.
