    I worked for TSE for just over 2 months. My last company before was my shortest ever (in 29 years) at 18 months. I had a quintuple heart by-pass in 2001. 5 weeks ago, I was 10 miles from the yard & started having chest pain. I called the yard 10 times, no answer. I sent a 911 message, no reply. Went to the yard & called 911, spent the night in the hospital. When I finally got through to dispatch from the emergency room, They hadn't noticed my message, my truck in the middle of the yard or the ambulance that was 20 feet outside the window. No verdict from doctors, wife picked me up & went home.
    Saw my cardiologist, got a heart catheter test, put in a stent. TSE said I had to get a new physical, their docs required a stress test. My doc said wait till 30 days from stent, scheduled stress test for 31st day. TSE said medical leave expired at 30 days, I was terminated & would have to re-qualify.
    I called TSE 2 days before stress test so they could begin re-qualification process & was told "not eligible for re-hire". Said I "didn't get enough points" & would not explain further. No late loads, no violations, no bent metal, no bad logs or bills, no service failures & no claims. I was guilty of running safe & compliant, logging 2700-3000+ a week. I was guilty of every committment made being kept. How could I not get enough points?
    The company I left says there's a truck ready & waiting for me, if I want it.

    that is how tse is and they have done it to alot of drivers over health and that is because they consider you a cost to the medical insurance and they consider you a risk with driving a truck if you have the least little thing wrong with you. I seen it happen to alot of good drivers there.

    They did the same thing to me. I got some intestinal infection was out six weeks- finally got clearnace and set me up to fail. Not too mention while I was out sick they cancelled my health insurance and I sent them scrambling.

    Ya'll are a sad lot. None of you take care of your own health and then blame it on the company. Remember, by giving you medical certification, the DOT Doctor is assuming responsibility that you do not pose a risk to the motoring public. The company doesn't have anything to do with that except that they don't let you go to some doc-in-a-box with a tongue depressor to get medical clearance. :biggrin_25523:

    So... have you ever been sick? Have you ever been in a hospital? You ever seen a doctor? A Psrink maybe? If not, i can reccomend two doctors for you... First is Dr. Dontgiveadamn, he is based their in Rockwall. I figured you heard of him, his main specialty is lips on the butt cheerleader syndrome.. (you might want get that checked out, just sayin)

    The other is Gunnery SGT. R. Lee Ermey (USMC), as you know he just recently got into helping people out who need a hand to Namby Pamby Land...

    If neither of thos work for you, i am sure i can find the number for Dr. Fraud... Here's to your good health!!

    The policy of TSE is that you have up to 30 days off, then termination, just company policy. My husband has been there since March 1998, 12 yrs. Up until 2007 he was an owner operator, so things were a bit different. Since he has became a "company" driver we have health insurance, dental, vision, life and short term disability insurance. He has used the short term disability only once. In 2009 he had carpal tunnel surgery and was off for 7 wks., he was told that after 30 days he would be terminated, but after talking to Ms. Safety, she said that he would need to file for FMLA and that would give him up to 12 wks a yrs off without termination.
    In order to file FMLA you have to be at the company for at least a year (I think). All has worked out with him.

    Texas Star Express like most employers will fire u after FMLA expires. Regardless how long u work for them (i worked there 4+yrs). Unless u live within 75 miles of Rockwall Texas terminal and capable of doing light duty work. Since under going cancer treatments that wasn't an option for me.. Treatments extended past FMLA 12 week protection. And was terminated that very day. quote HR person "FMLA protects employers from employees long on going battles". Me "Let me get this right, Ur firing me because i have cancer and my treatments still on going?" Quote HR person "U can reapply for reinstatment if ur treatments end within 45 days of the firing date, if u meet the rehire qualifications." Only other option was to stop treatment to return to work. Since wouldn't allow to work inbetween treatments(which i can understand). Too much liability on their end.. However wasn't impressed with how they flat out lied to unemployment and stated that "I Quit". But i had my Cobra qualification letter stating "Termination".
    CYOA (cover your own ###). Awesome co-worker drivers but classless company in my opinion.

    Added information the federal American Disabilities Act does not recognize Cancer as a disability. Thus an employer doesn't have 2 make reasonable concessions for any employee to receive treatment.

    Ok Whatajoke, I get your side. No problem at all but I asked this question before in another thread:

    Why all the shock and awe? Why the surprise when a motor carrier moves to protect itself? Why the shock when they treat you like a meaningless number?

    We are drivers and that makes us no more than tools in a box to be used as needed and when we can no longer do the job intended then we are tossed aside for a new one. There is no loyalty here, no gold watch. Yesterday doesn't mean diddly......

    It's what have you done for me lately and what can you do for me tomorrow?

    A sad but true story and is not limited to trucks at all. MOST employers will treat you like this unless you are protected by contract or he's too small to care.
