I know someone in Kentucky with a pre-99 FLD that is in really good shape inside and out for $10,000. Has an N14. If I had a much bigger pile of cash I would be tempted to haggle on that price and buy it.

Looks very clean & well taken care of. That is what I paid for my 770 in '08 from a repo lot, and then put 10K into it to make it road ready.

Some of the appearance mods I don't care for but he's got some bucks into it so that price is pretty reasonable IMO. Plus Classic XL's get a premium over plane jane FLD's.

FLD I'm talking about is in good shape. No holes in the dash. Not trashed. Most of these pre-emissions trucks for sale out here are over-priced junk. Hard to find one that's in good shape and someone with a reasonable price on it. I would pass on anything 2000 or newer if I was shopping.

When they get to that age you're either going to buy one that's been gone through and somebody is going to want $20-25k for it or you'll pick it up all original (and mostly shot) for $10k and have to put 10-15 grand into it to make it a solid runner that you're fairly certain wont die on the side of the road. There's just a minimum threshold of investment that is going to happen one way or the other if you want anything other than a lawn ornament.

Bought my 2001 fld classic mid roof last January with 525 n14 with fresh out of frame with 830k on the clock .
Spent a lot of time getting it cleaned up and doing what's necessary to get the fuel mileage from the high 4s and low 5s to the low to mid 6s .
Its not a show truck but unlike my emissions trucks it works everyday of the week with 0 time in the shop for dumb stuff .

I've been looking at 90's FLD120's on truck paper...just seems like a good starter truck. Most of them for sale at that age have been given up on a long time ago though. The sharp ones I notice last a few weeks and are gone. The crap/projects sit there for months or even a year sometimes.
