I talked to a guy I know yesterday who is a lease op at Thomas & Sons Distributors in Coos Bay, OR.
He told me the sales/recruiter called him and offered him a new (basic) 2017 KW T680 w/auto. Here's the essential terms:
1. $2,500 down.
2. $2,500 a month payment for 60 mos.
3. $30,000 residual at the end of 60 mos.
According to my calculations that ends up costing that guy $182,500.
He told me he's already been paying $2,000 a month for over 2 years on another one of their trucks and will essentially get nothing for it when he trades it over to the new KW.
Sounds like a good deal, eh?

I would jump on that if the truck has a PACCAR motor and an auto-shift.
I wonder if they ever got their beer rates back up. -
You'd jump on a $182,500 deal?
Last I heard, C.H. Robinson had undercut them on a particular lane in California. Now that I'm on my own, I negotiate rates on loads that are better than those heavy a s s loads out of Irwindale all the time that are often half the weight. -
I was being sarcastic.
FWIW I'm almot positive Aaron is making money every month on those leases.
I could go on a major rant about the financialization of our entire economy and the trucking industry in particular, but I've got to deliver, reload and go trucking.Scooter Jones Thanks this. -

Whoops in a hurry this morning
I just loaded next to a T&S truck. I can remember when that was a hip place to work. A whole coterie of O/O's with really nice trucks that ran hard. It looks like those days are long gone. -
