Hi all. I realize this is a slow time of year for everyone.. I'm an IC for Schneider (tanker). Wondering from those who have been around a while, when it normally picks back up. I'm in a situation where I finally got a load going out from where I am but am not seeing anything at all leaving from there next Thurs. I know that'll change in the next few days but wondering if anyone can tell me how slow it normally is between Christmas and New Years compared to after the first of January,
I'm brand new to the IC thing and tanker, so not as familiar with what things are like on the tanker side of things.
Income question- after all expenses, taxes and everything it's looking like I can likely end up with $900- $1000 a week if I can get in 3600 miles a week approximately (obviously that can all vary but that's an estimate based on what I've done so far and looking at expenses and going over everything with the finance people, etc. Obviously after I don't have a truck pmt anymore, whenever that ends up being, it'll be a lot more. Does that sound fairly accurate to anyone else doing this?
typical?

I'm dry van and have been here for about 6 years.
The slow time is usually between the last week in December up until March sometime. You might only average half of what you want during that time, or maybe a bit better. -
To make a mere $900 a week you have to run 3500-3600 miles in a tanker??
Your Gross should be $6-7k on 3500 miles!!! After Fuel and all other Schneider nitpickins- You outta be walkin $1600-1800 a week in green Cash Stuffing your walletSL3406, ladr, RollingRecaps and 4 others Thank this. -
I don't know about tanker, but for dry van freight typically dies off between mid January doesn't start picking up until mid March. Then it gets better and better until peaking around the 4th of July, where you get a smaller drop until the back to school rush in late August.
3600 miles/week to clear $1000 sounds terrible to me btw -- a company driver should make more than that.Lepton1, 77fib77, BoxCarKidd and 5 others Thank this. -
Jhc you have to do 3600 MILES to take 900/1000 That's awful.
Curious though how much are you holding back for taxes.
I really thought there was better pay on the tank side.akfisher Thanks this. -
Ruthless Thanks this.

Companies try and keep their year-end inventories as low as possible for tax purposes, and once the inventory is complete in early January then they will work to bring inventory levels back up to where they feel they should be.

I do skateboarding and I haven't worked almost 2 weeks. But that's why you always put away for those rainy days. And I ain't gonna start looking until next week unless they look for me first.
