You all know it takes until March to get the year straight. Don't lie.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
I hate it when the news media blames black ice for an accident. Black ice has never caused an accident. Stupid driving when black ice is likely is the cause.

That stretch of Oregon has a unique weather phenomenon that occurs regularly and catches many off guard.
They have very "heavy dews" and very cold temps that can drop 10 degrees in the matter of an hour at times, freezing the dew faster then traffic can keep it off, and light traffic at times and you will come up on an area of roadway with a thin layer of ice ... no fog, no snow melt/freeze, no freezing rain just a thin layer of ice out of nowhere. it may be 2 miles, or it may be 20 miles. Maybe you'll know it the hard way, maybe you won't know it at all.
I've walked across the street in Baker at 06:00 to eat at the restaurant across from the truck stop. Clear weather the last few days, main drag road through town was completely dry the evening before but that morning it was slick as snot to walk on and looked like there was no ice.
Just beware between La Grande to Huntington on clear, cold nights, especially pre-dawn hours.
But that's in addition to normal freezing rain setups that also happen in that region several times a year.NavigatorWife, Lepton1 and Big Don Thank this.
