You should be checking that instinctively always. I check it when I'm in my car out of habit EVERY time I drive under something.

You do know you only have to report that for 10yrs, and any company that asks or holds it against you after 10 is in violation of federal law and you can sue them on those grounds. These trucking companies seem to think they are all exempt from all labor laws and fed laws as well. If drivers stop NOT reporting these viloations to the DOT hotline and to their state labor dept, they will just keep up the dirty practices. The only reason companies keep getting away with all the things they do, drivers keep looking the other way and turning cheek. Until we take a stand and stop doing it, they will keep doing it. -
2800mi # $0.34/mi
2 deliveries in CT # $25
2 deliveries in OH # $10
easy $1000+ a week. there is potential for 3000mi or more if I want to stay out. I am enjoying being home 3-4 nights a week so I'll probably wait till the winter to stay out. if I have to take a 34 hour restart away from home, they put me in a hotel.
the two major differences between my new company and TMC are:
1) I keep most of my check at my new company. they use a thing called EZ-pass so I don't have to go to the ATM every weekend and advance them money for tolls, and then not get reimbursed for them. if I make $1000, I bring home $800 at my new company. if I made $900, I'd bring home $550 at TMC. my expenses don't affect my pay, because I don't have any. I haven't had to use a dime of my own money so far. it's a wonderful feeling. and they're even reimbursing my hazmat application fee.
2) I get paid practical miles. $0.34/mi on practical miles is the same or better than $0.38/mi on TMC's scam short miles. new company says it's 760mi from point A to point B. at the end of the trip, I have logged 760 miles, sometimes less. TMC would say it was 760 miles and I'd log 900 miles and my team leader would be at my throat for out of route.
I'm doing easy work, making a ton of money, I'm home all the time, and my new company doesn't treat me like a farm animal. I'd say in this case the grass was greener on the other side.cplmac2 Thanks this. -
If the ten year rule is true you might be able to get it expunged from your record. It's worth looking into, I'd check with the Circuit Clerk for your county.

and even if the grass weren't greener, the feeling of blowing by those Petes going 70MPH is wonderful.
I passed probably 15 TMC trucks today and 14 of them were tarped. the hardest thing I had to do today was drop and hook 2 trailers, and I'm still making more money. -
until that dries up. No just kidding i will say that dry van is easier but I've never brought home less than $1000 a wk in the five years ive been there and all i do is north east usually get to stop at home everyother day. And if you look at the speed 5 mph difference isnt that huge especially in the northeast traffic. Good for you though if you found a great company. I like the work keeps me in shape instead of sitting behind a wheel all day.
Flatbedders do it with straps and chains! -
The sad thing is, when you quit, most companies look at you as if you're not a good slave, so they won't take the chance on hiring you either. They're not going to hire anyone that they can't screw!

I do the same loads every week for the most part. Shingles from frederick md to mass. Lowes ld out of westfield to plattsburg, watertown or ogdensburg NY. Alcoa back down to Baltimore, bounce over to Frederick and start over. Been working great for years.
