I thought about switching from prime to tmc. Will I gain any benefits from doing this or not? I line in baton rouge and prime seem to have a problem with getting me home no matter what division I'm in.
thought about switching

Get in tankers; they run lots of I-10.
-
It's crazy cause i like the challenges of flatbeding but tankers might be a better option for me. I like tmc because of percentage pay and ability to haul specialized loads
-
SVTN has a terminal in St. Gabriel.
CTL Transportation runs lots of Florida/Texas right through Louisiana.
Trimac has local/regional out of some terminals but also OTR.
Schneider Bulk is also good. -
Get your training paid off, and then think about switching. It's only a year... aren't you glad you didn't sign a lease at this point?
-
It's going to be real hard. I was set on leaving in 6mo. Yea I am glad

I get tired of these trucking companies trying to tell us there is "nothing going that way" when it comes to getting you home.
Fact is (you know, and I know, and THEY know) there is freight of all kinds, to load on trailers of all kinds, coming and going in all directions, at all times!
Trucking companies need to stop thinking us drivers are stupid robots, and will just believe everything they say. Their one and only intent while ATTEMPTING to use this ploy, is to keep you on the road running freight. A lot of the larger companies have a "commission" built into a Dispatchers/Driver Managers pay---meaning, the more freight that gets hauled, the more trucks that are running, the more drivers on their boards generating revenue...the better their pay. And it doesn't pay them squat (aside from their hourly wage) for you to be home. This creates a greed (everyone loves money) in what may be a decent person other-wise.
When Dispatchers/Driver Managers (and anyone else in the office for that matter) go home for the day and/or weekend....they don't think about you or I for one tenth of one second---unless maybe they know you are home, and their next check isn't going to be as big as their last one. DISGUSTING!!!
Get me miles (because that is MY check), and get me home (because that is where MY life is). -
everyone has to get enough experience to know the difference when the driver is unreasonable and the company is unreasonable
that doesnt happen day one
when you get a couple years together you will have a better understanding what you want to do within trucking and how to accomplish it -
White Dog....AMEN!!!! wow I couldnt of said this any better..........I did the PRime Inc and US Express ( 6 weeks each) and tried for two yrs to get on with TMC and TMc came close for me but NO FREIGHT, we cant get you home regular or at all , or Abeline transport out of Richmond Va home every 4 weeks due to freight now I live in the most VIRUS state in the world and thats Vermont nut come one ......really freight of all kinds have to come up here to or we would be dried up..... 27yrs of exp and I cant find a decent otr to work for,.....
