Worst truck stop you have been to

If you fuel there, aren't the showers and parking thrown in?

 

not many good ones left anymore..

 

A&C truckstop, or whatever name it goes by. Stopped in there once to buy a couple bottles of soda, for the run to SLC. Didn't realize until I was in the truck and 10 miles down the road, but one had been opened and reclosed (the seal was broken), it was still Pepsi in it, but I only took one swig and tossed it out the window, not taking anymore chances.

 

The one in Rock Springs I'll agree with, parking is a joke. Not sure what the problem is with the one in Rawlins, granted it's been a couple of years, but it didn't seem too bad.

I had to double check, but they have a sister station outside Ennis, Tx. on 45 that is just as bad. Last time I stopped there was in '98, still have nightmares about that place.

Was it on 25 or one of the other roads.

 

Ah yes. Stopped in there once for a washout. Not the easiest thing to get into either. Like you, I probably won't ever go back. For those as don't know, I'd date the main building to sometime in the late Fifties, maybe early Sixties, as a gas station/garage and not maintained since. The added-on tin garage on the back isn't much younger while being cluttered with assorted junk piled up over the decades so that there's just little walk and work spaces you have to squeeze through. Everything, including the "convenience" store (really just a few aisles of stuff crammed in what used to be the office area) is filthy with years of dirt.

One that irritates me greatly in Cali is The Garlic Farm Inn on the south end of Gilroy CA because it has the potential to be a really great TS but the owners are letting it go to hell.

 

Yeah I've stayed at the Garlic Farm overnight. Seems there is always parking there though it is pretty dark at night. Not much of a choice in that area compared to Pilot in Salinas which is utter chaos 24/7 !!

 

I once stopped at the Mr. Fuel south of St. Louis. Fueled, parked and went in for a shower. The guy handed me the key and flat out reminded me to leave a tip.

On the way out I said here's your tip.
"How about sweeping up the dead ####roaches and washing the towels in between uses"

Always bring your flip flops and your own towel.

 

Ironically I went back to the truck stop where I bought that hose, to get air more quickly at the fuel island, and their hoses were only letting air out of my tire! I asked about this inside, and they told me their line had a leak. So I ended up using that for the first time there. Worked better than expected.

 

It's a good place when you need to wait for the manager to finish smoking crack in the shower.
