Seriously? You can't park in these spots because they are reserved for people that call ahead.

    Is there a fee?

a packed truck stop and you have to pay for parking to be held for you?

Can I reserve a shower and a fuel island while I'm at it?

    What a joke...

Costs $12 (plus tax) I believe, I use it at certain notoriously full early truck stops. Company reimburses but I try not to abuse that.

In some areas the reserved Parking comes in handy...like the northeast...where parking is a premium...if I'm in an area for little parking availability then yes I would pay so that I could at least not have to be concerned about parking & knowing I'll get my rest.

I've never used it, but can see the value in it, especially if you're in a place that fills up pretty quickly.

And yes, I reserve showers on my phone all the time. I get an email when it is ready, go in the truck stop and bypass the line of guys standing there staring at the TV screen. 9 times out of 10 though there isn't a wait for a shower at TA/Petro.

I feel these trucking companies get enough of our money. I see where you guys are coming from but I can see it going from a few spots to more spots and making it to where you have to pay for parking everywhere.

If your company will not reimburse the fee, you can deduct it off your Fed income taxes. Just keep the receipt and file it.
It's amazing to hear people say thing's like, " i'm not going to run that toll road, park in that lot, pay for that truck wash, etc". They are all legitimate tax deductions. Why not take advantage of them?

having a reserved spot at the ta in columbia is priceless

I don't see how anyone figures the TS is getting rich off us
I use 3-4 ts a day only buy fuel once
and they should own 50 acres just so I can pee on my tires
    they owe us nothing

you want to resent someone resent the bobtails parking in full spots
because they have a right too
loves in clive iowa last night

I understand where you're coming from about the deductions thing, but some people have a very limited weekly budget and $12 is 2 meals that has to be eliminated for many. And yes, we should be concerned for where this is going. This issue has been brought up before and my reply now as in the past is ... many spots that used to be free and came as a benefit of trading at the truck stop, are now all of the sudden "at a direct cost". Where will it stop or will we lose still more spaces in the future to a paid parking model?

We need to be asking the question ... "are the truck stops doing this as a service to the drivers or a means to boost profits"? Once we have that answer, we can then decide how we are going to accept this new "trend". Boost profits? ... am I supposed to believe Pilot, Loves, TA and others are having problems paying bills and their savior is in charging for parking?

If you dislike the way someone does business, don't do business with them. I think the reserved spots probably help the elogs guys out quite a bit. Lets face it, anyone that complains about paid parking thinks everyone owes them something. Almost every Truckstop that charges for general parking usually has a disclaimer for you to spend $20 at the store or restaurant, or buy 50 gallons of fuel. Gosh, they want to not only make revenue, but profit too. Those evil capitalist pigs!
