I been there twice. It's cool to see and take pics at. If I go to Vegas again I'm going to the canyon via donkey.

I was about 20 when my father and I went on a trip from TX to Vegas and we drove the DAM. I thought that place was awesome than and since I have watched the documentary about the building of the Hoover, I would just love to go on a tour. I remember my father telling me about truckers scraping the mtn as they went around the corner, showed me the scrape marks on the rock...lol I bet some ole times could tell us about that....

Who is this guy calling old?! It has not been that long since commercial traffic was not allowed over the dam. What year is it anyway?! Where are my false teeth and glass of prune juice?

Condo Cruiser thanks for the pics. America at work.

Sheepdog I am just joking with you! I was lucky enough to drive over the Boulder dam a few times in a big rig. It was great! Only problems were the oncoming RV"rs in the curves. Other then that smooth sailing.

Shortly after 9/11/2001, they started dis-allowing trucks and other commercial traffic over the dam. The Feds went berserk, and thought every structure in the US was a target for destruction. While a nice scenic drive, it was a pain in the butt with a 53' trailer and on weekends it was a cluster.

i went there by car in 2001
i was fascinated by the big black shadows
swimming around the intakes on the Lake Mead side
found out they were carp ranging up to 100 lbs
At the time I was a commercial fisherman
I wanted to go get my nets back in Gloucester

If you ran Vegas out of the southwest, crossing Hoover Dam on US 93 was a way of life until 9/11. And it was a royal pain in the Heinaman. As a matter of fact until US 93 was widened between Phoenix and Kingman, it was all narrow, winding two lane. I don't think anyone who ran the route misses having to deal with the Dam.
