RedRider,
Have you actually been in that Loves?? Holy crap what a stupid place to put a truck stop! Let's put a t/s at the bottom (or at the very beginning) of Fancy Gap mountain. Then, lets make it a 9% grade just to get into the parking lot. Absolutely ridiculous.
Brintle's has a real restaurant. It has been there a while so no, it isn't some fancy building, but for a lot of companies, including mine, it is a fuel stop and offers free showers with fuel.

The Gas City truck stop on US 421 at I-94 in Michigan City, IN has been sold and is now known as 421 Travel Center. Gas City filed for bankruptcy and a bunch of different companies bought their locations. This particular location was bought by Pinkerton Oil and is their first foray into retail. Hopefully they get it together quickly because they are in a prime location.

Not sure if this is any help to ya'll but if you have an Iphone the "iExit Trucks" app is pretty useful. I use it all the time. It shows truck stops, Walmarts and no overnight Walmarts, Rest stops, low clearance, and some other things.

My fav website for routing and finding nearby truck stops. Hope it helpsBigarmin88 and Shep Shiloh Thank this. -
Ive always liked Brintles. Of course I tend to prefer any privately owned truckstop. Get tired of the cookie cutter chains. I was at a Irving Circle K in Maine on friday which used to be a pilot. apparently there isnt enough money to be made in Maine for pilot, so they sold out instead of taking over like everywhere else. I got some permits faxed to me. 3 pages. I went to pay and the guy said na, there on the house. Later on down the road at the TA in new hampshire i got 5 more pages of permits faxed to me, cost 10 bucks. Really? Thats just wrong, its almost criminal
Big Duker Thanks this. -
I think it's $75 now. My uncle, who is actually about to head through Amarillo right about now on his way to drop in Temple, Texas has finished the steak once and failed once. He says he doesn't know if he can do it again. You have to be very very hungry to do it, he says. -
If you ever get the chance of going to Amarillo, Tx., the Big Texan is there. I believe if you order the 4 pound slab of steak, try to eat most, if not all of it under 1 hour, the Big Texan will pay for your meal on the spot.

You have to eat the entire thing, plus the baked potato and what ever else comes with it.
They do have a shuttle service from all trucks stops. Free , but tip your driver if you want. -
I found a truck stop in the Pine Bluff, AR area that was not bad. It is called Big Red and has an Arkansas Razorback logo on the side of the building. I fueled there, stopped for my break and ate a pretty good burger there. The only complaint is that with a hog on the building, it gives the impression that it is a bbq joint but no such luck. I can't complain, the food was pretty good and the staff was friendly and had a sense of humor.
