So my wife and I have been talking a lot recently about what we would do if we owned a truck stop - what kind of services would we offer, what restaurants would we have, etc. After we tossed some ideas back and forth, I thought it would be a good idea to ask on TTR what other drivers would like to see in a truck stop. So here goes - to you, what makes a good truck stop? Or, what do current truck stops (especially chains) lack that you'd like to see. I'm especially interested to hear what the more "seasoned" drivers would like, because apparently truck stops were much better back in the day.

Do not fool yourself there were REAL RAT HOLE TRUCKSTOPS back in the DAY only thing there were usually smaller Mom & Pop type places (Diner with parking )near by to head to, today the small Mom & Pop type places are few and far between.

Large well lit parking lot. Trash can for every 5 spaces. Enclosed dog run like the Hess in GA. Stocked fishing pond like the Big Cabin on OK. Full service and self service laundry. On site truck and trailer wash with discounts given for fueling up. Large showers with many many hooks inside. Post office or shipping services. Idle air with discounts for fueling. Redbox. Book exchange program. Starbucks.
Also a phone app that will allow us to enter the shower que and alert us when our showers are ready. -
A Truck Stop with a fitness center might attract a few drivers.

Free Wifi. With what these places make in fuel alone that should be standard. And I like what Rooster said
Charli Girl and gntorres61 Thank this. -
The reason they don't have Redbox in truckstops is cause of the competition to the truck stop. Why buy a movie when you can rent it for $1.25?
