Along with it becoming a TA watch how filthy it will get too...what a shame...they had one the few restaurants that was worth stopping at to eat...they at least had real food..

What are you talking about? Maid-Rite, Taco John's and the diner are all still there. The only thing PFJ is the diesel, that's it. I stop there pretty regularly.

The only really bad thing about PFJ taking over is now it's jammed full by 8pm on a weekend.

Is it even remotely possible that Mr. Taylor really believes this? I'm sure he WANTS to believe it. But I sure don't, and it looks like a whole lot of us don't.

What a dam crying shame! OTOH, if Taylor doesn't have family to pass it down to, I can see him wanting to either retire, or finally go do something else. Running a place like that cannot be an easy life.

That is sort of like saying Alfie hasn't beaten up near as many people as Ben has.:biggrin_25523:

He has family to pass it down to, his son is a manager there, but he does not want to run the business.... he wants his money now.

unfortunate, there will be big changes... all the local nick nacks will be gone, they will expand the number of fuel lanes, reducing the parking, change the restaurant, fire the maintenance staff, never clean the parking lot....

I used to stop there before I-25 was built... when visiting my aunts and uncles on their farm...

that's about how it goes tleaheart! the kids of the owners that own the business. don't want anything to do with the business. they just want the money it worth instead of the job and long term income it is producing.

Pilot did not get the Grand Island Location, when the bought the others. The family still own and operate it, only the fuel side is Pilot.

Well if the locals keep going, there is a chance it won't change that much. Any given weekend , you drive by Johnsons, and the place is packed, with a line of people out the door waiting for a table. it was that way back in the mid 80's when my cousin took me there for my first visit.
Look at 'R' Place inside the T/A in Morris,Ill. Ya T'/ A owns the location, but they realized what a huge following of locals went there, so they left the restaurant alone.
