Driving north up I-65 in Indiana to make a morning delivery in Chicago(every week),I usually drive to a stopping point and take my 10 and arise early and go into Chicago to deliver.I was running ahead of schedule and so I decided to pass the usual stopping point for me,which is the FLYJ in Hebron/Lowell,IN and proceed on to the T/A in Gary,In and be a little ahead of schedule and sleep in a little later...

With 3 resaurants at this location couldn't at least 1 of them stay open all night so that in the morning a driver who is going to Have a very long day delivering and reloading in Chicago could have Something to eat for Brkfst?
The Mgr I complained to said "its not profitable"..and suggested I go across the street to the Pilot and eat a Subway for Breakfast..
Ok..I will and I WILL go back to stopping in Hebron at the FLYJ and at least have a 24hr Dennys to eat some Brkfst at..Thx
T/A Gary,In.

Man, you were taking your life into your own hands visiting that TA!
TruckDuo, Wallhack, Red Hot Mess and 4 others Thank this. -
I find "its not profitable" to be a dumb argument since that TA has alot of parking, so theoretically they'll get business. BUT there are like 10 Truck stops all within 6 miles of each other (close to that) so they are too busy competing with everyone else maybe they gave up, you're already there so why are you complaining?

Truck Stops operate like this: "you're already here, if you don't like the way we do things then just leave...oh wait!"
and you can't leave for multiple reasons: out of Hours, no other truck stops close by, the other truck stops are full, etc.
i'm calling it now, there will be a "minimum purchase" or "required purchase" rule in the future to stop at truck stops. I hope i'm wrong -
Xt 9 that's back east of Burr (xt6)
is that a really small TrStop? -
Yeah that was really my problem..i had already parked and started my 10 and had enough time to arise and go into Chicago and deliver in the AM..
if I had told them to stick it and left I would have messed up my HOS and my loading/reloading the next day.. -
After 10pm at this BIG trstop w 3 restaurants there is NO food..NONE until the next morn at a time when most tr drivers have already left out to make morning deliveries in Chicago.. -
as I said "do it our way or leave" so the drivers call their bluff
Society still operates on a 9-5 clock (no idea why) but trucking doesn't work that way. which kind of only sets us up for failure. so therioretically at 10 at night you're asleep. you're not going to find parking at 10 at night so why do they try to attract "new" people in? you should either be asleep or driving. -
Hell, if drivers are that screwed why not cook food during very limited hours or even by appointment only ... Huge place like that ought to have something at any hour. Maybe they do that so now you won't even walk across the parking lot when night falls, and risk getting shot, bringing more negative publicity to the area ... They are doing you a solid! Lol ...
