Why do you think a cup of that raw sewage they call coffee costs $2.50/24oz? Why do you think that candy bar is $2.00/1? C'mon man, truck stops are ripoff central.

that shower look like a place you'd catch a member of congress in? It ain't the ritz, guy, and the shower jockeys are making minimum wage tops (when they can show citizenship.)

do my damnedest to stay out of flying j, especially pilot. I like how desperate they're getting for business, though- grabbed fuel in boonville on 70 today for 3.30 cash. Won't ever use the shower credit with them because I don't need to feel like I'm in county lock up, and didn't go inside to buy their overpriced ####, or get treated like a two day old turd on the sidewalk by their staff either.

I'll park in front of a Sheriffs office before I park in a pilot anymore.

how do they pay for the showers? here's an example. my company runs 25 trucks slip seat 24 hours a day. ( 2 twelve hour shifts.) filled at loves at the end of each shift. so 80 gallons twice a day = 160 a day per truck. x, what, 30 days a month? 25 trucks x 160 gallons x 30 days a month = 120,000 gallons of fuel. i think they are making a profit even giving us free coffee refills. oh, and none of us use the showers home every night.

Remember when coffee was free, and none of that loyalty card BS. When the J owner can plunk down 1 billion dollars for a NFL team he is not to worried about how the showers balance out.

It's simple accounting. Location A rewarded drivers with 50 shower credits but only redemmed 40. Location B rewarded 40 credits but gave out 60.

Location A "owes" corporate for the cost of the ten showers they gave out but weren't redemmed at their location.

Location B is "owed" the cost of 20 showers from corporate.

Toss in the kickbacks for meeting sales quotas and all the other basic profit/loss things and you get the locations net profit to corporate.

Pilot/FJ/Loves etc "Corporation" gives you the points or whatever for the shower... not the store itself. Then you redeem those points back to the Corporation... not to the store itself. So, it dont matter if you fuel in Texas & shower in Kansas. Its all coming & going, into & out of the same pocket. Your dealing with the corporation/company, not the individual store.

I think you got to stop thinking so much, you are going to drive yourself crazy:biggrin_25523:
Just take the free shower when you fuel up and be done with it I say.

Jabber, it is all funny money pushed around by the bean counters. The $$ for the shower points go into a pool and when a site provides a shower that money is credited to that store. Nothing hard about it.
