Except all the solar powered truckers who are afraid of the dark clogging up the rest areas and the other free parking areas...and don't get me started on the jackwagons that drop their trailers then park the tractor in the space next to the trailer...not to mention the RVs with slide-outs taking up three spaces... two for the RV and one for their car.

But honestly... I think every truck stop should charge people who want to take up more than one space. The oversize drivers are making dollarS with an S per mile... it won't hurt them. It might motivate the jackwagons who drop and park next to the trailer to stop doing that #### unless absolutely necessary (i.e. trailer swap). Dropped trailers for more than 2 hours without a tractor written up in the shop should be a charge as well.

And as for the RVs, they should be charged a premium to park at truck stops. $25/night for one space, $60/night if they want to pop out their slide outs and take up two. F 'em. Go park at KOA/GoodSam/etc. We couldn't park there even if we wanted to.

Side note: I would have no problem with an amendment to Jason's law entailing large subsidies to offset the costs of constructing new facilities, be it truck stops or dedicated parking areas of whatever. We sustain the economy, so I can't see that being unreasonable at all. Plenty of industries that do less for the economy as a whole get plenty of subsidies...so why not one that helps us out?

Having the reserved park OPTION, is a good thing, but some of the comments, makes ya wonder that they must be the world's greatest trucker and have NEVER EVER had trouble finding a place to park @ 0300 and the time clock is about to expire.
I use it all the time, in areas where I know there won't be any parking after 10pm. No I don't park on ramps, and going thru every rest area, to see if there is parking, takes up time.
So while they are circling the lot, looking for a spot, or creating their own so be it. Don't come here and whine cause your truck got hit, when you were parked where you shouldn't of been parked. 12.00- 14.00 dollars sure beats thousands of dollars of damage to your ride.

You're arguing with the same folks that will spend $30 in fuel to get around a $20 toll and think they got away with something. They never see a bigger picture.

Not to mention that the company we work for not only pays us back for it, but prefer that we use it. I've had many nights where I go to place after place and find it full. So anymore I will call T/A or Petro and reserve a spot. It just makes perfect sense to me. I park while the ones who don't/won't pay circle the lot hoping someone leaves.

I think there should be more reserve parking myself.
