I wonder though,if its raining all day does the dot still perform checks during this 72 hr roadcheck?

Last year they put 22% of trucks/drivers inspected out of service. I find it hard to believe that almost a quarter of the trucks/drivers on the road are running with out of service violations.

It does have a bigger impact than just the 72 hours.... when I first started driving for werner their csa score was very good and so DOT was only pulling in a smal percent of werner driver.. I got pulled once in a two week period and that was at a scale was pjlling in everyone.. I ended up just getting the pass lane...
Then, some drivers got speding tickets, violations and had accidents and our CSA score went up.. so, DOT was pulling in a higher percent of werner drivers... I would get a pulled in at least once a week and often twice a week... well, with more drivers being pulled in, more violations were handed out.. and up went our CSA score again.. and so lately the chance were greater that you would get the red light on your pre pass then a green one.. I was getti g pjlled Iat least once a day and sometimes more...
So, there will be long lasting effects... even if you have no issues and get no violations.. the violations your co workers get will effect you.. if your company CSA score goes up.. the chances of you getting pulled into the scales in the weeks and maybe months that follow will be greater....
So, even if you are doing the most competent pre trip.. do you trust that all your fellow companies drivers are doing one...
For me personally... I am switching accounts.. turning in my truck and will be slip seating for the new account.. I start Wednesday at 2am and will be with another driver for two days.. he is gonna train me and show me the ropes for the new account I am starting... so, mixed feelings on how it will be with this... hopefully he is a conscientious driver. Like myself and we will do a complete pre trip and be prepared for a level 1... especially on load securement.. as the new account is pulling flatbed... I havent pulled flatbed since 2009/2010.. so I am brushing up on regs and stuff..NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

The majority of drivers will pass. It's the old school steering wheel holders that will have a harder time, since a majority of have a problem with authority
gpsman and Skydivedavec Thank this. -

If you get pulled in just be nice & hope you didn't get someone with bug up their arse. They are going to find so many violations and put so many oos regardless. I think we all know, if they look hard enough, they can find something. Just don't compound it with an attitude. If your number is up, it's up and if you've ever stood in a scale house and watched how its more like Russian Roulette than for safety, you'll know what I'm saying.
Skydivedavec Thanks this. -
