Nevada scales on I 15 wide-open south of Vegas on July 4

Same as last week....wonder what's going on with the stepped up scrutiny?

 

I think we need those DOT guys at the border!!!!

 

I was heading out of southern VT the other day and the small little scale house on 91 was hopping. I pulled in and they just scaled me (I was really light) and told me to go on my way. There were 8 DOT trucks/officer's there. I was wondering what the occasion was. For a small little scale house I have never seen it so busy

 

They've been open every single time I have gone by them. The bad one is going to be the new super coop that they are building near Primm. That place is going to be full all the time.

 

They are doing this as much for intimidation as anything. Think how the word is spreading around about Nevada being open on a holiday. Trying to make us think you can never be sure of what they will do next, ' scaring us straight '.

 

They are probably pissed they have to work on the 4th.

 

They get government grants for added enforcement programs on holiday weekends. They do that here in Michigan. They have this multi-state and multi-agency operation during holiday weekends that target motor carrier (commercial vehicles) as well as DUI, speeding and tailgating all funded by extra federal monies. Those cops stand in line to sign up for all that overtime. A lot of MSP troopers will pull their usual 8 or 10 hour shift and then sign up for an additional 4-6 hrs on the task force to make some extra coin. Here they call it Operation C.A.R.E. (Combined Accident Reduction Effort)

 

vegas has been working for almost 2 years now. that's nothing new. been off and on but more on lately then off. once in a blue moon southbound will also be open.

elko westbound 80 has also been working. but not as much. have only seen eastbound open once so far.
