I honestly can't see how it is Cummins' fault that they had to resort to adding after treatment systems or otherwise lose what I am pretty sure is a good chunk of business. They did what they had to do to remain alive. And they did it in I'm sure they best way they could with the technology of the day.

Caterpillar basically said ## to a lot of that crap which is why you don't see newer Cat OTR engines. They had a lot more to fall back on with their other divisions. Cummins didn't have that luxury as far as I know. Power generation is their only other division if I'm not mistaken.

I'd be going after the real cause of these troubles. Namely CARB.

It's a conspiracy! Especially when you consider the ban on flip flops at customers and terminals.

Cummins EGR and DPF are designed to be maintained and or replaced on a regular schedule depending on how the engine is used, off road , city or highway. At some giving point of the engine's life cycle it will have to have parts replaced. Take this as a learning experience when buying a used truck with out a comprehensive drive-train warranty.

New Truck Dealers, Pete and KW don't care if it breaks under warranty, they bill charges back to Cummins up until the end of the warranty. After that, they bill you the man with the wallet sitting in the driver's lounge for two days.

None of the parts of these systems are reliable. SCR system keep failing frequently be it Detroit, Volvo or Cummins.

Our local kw dealer does care if it's on warranty YOU wait longer for repairs under warranty because they have to wait for approval and only get so many hours to do job .. If your not on warranty job gets done asap not 5-10 days like the warranty work

From my experience the only new engine worth buying today is the DD15 . On all DEF systems keep the DEF tank full . The fluid dries and forms crystals, which clogs its filters and or the doser . This will prevent lots of issues.

I spent 12000 on maint on my Cummins. They say you get better fuel and you do. But thats 12000 i wouldnt have to spend if i had a glider. So you spend maybe 5000 more on fuel with a glider . I still be ahead 7000. in the bank. Yea i cant go to Cali but trust me if i do it will be by plane. Not a truck.

I would LOVE to see some conservative AG's get together to "investigate possible criminal charges" against those who have used fraud to push this climate change agenda...at least WE can put a dollar value on OUR "damages" through increased operating and maintenance, downtime, and decreased reliability in our equipment. Then there is the increased regulatory cost of complying with these fraud-based regulations. Not to mention the tax dollars used to prop up corporations using this fraud to justify their unprofitable existence when the market will not buy their products and services. It's only fair...I mean if the liberal AG's are going after "big oil" and any other "climate change denyer" then why not use the same tactics to go after the "greenies" who are pushing the fraud? Heck, any non-california based carrier ought to be able to go after CARB at the very least...how are truck emissions that much different than cars? For DECADES we've had "California emissions" vehicles and the rest of them. California doesn't prohibit out-of-state folks with old cars from driving in the state, even if a CA-legal version of their car was available and they didn't buy it. Nobody should have to "retrofit" anything onto a truck, and if you aren't FROM California and do a vast majority of your business elsewhere, you shouldn't have to comply with their insane standards.
