AH, Just turn those bunch of Maroons loose in a truck. Mountains all round Utah, the have to sink or swim the first trip. It's called survival of the weakest I think.

My wife:"No, Dear. You're not the most annoying person on the planet. But if that person were to die."

One day England, Walmart and Microsoft will all be merged into one company because that will be more "efficient" and we will all be drones of a Borg corporation.

"....C.R. England requests an exemption to allow CLP holders who have passed the CDL skills test but not yet received the CDL document to drive a commercial motor vehicle without being accompanied by a CDL holder, provided the driver has documentation of passing the skills test...."

I guess most of you didn't read this part. I'm not a fan of CRE by any stretch of the imagination, but what they are asking for is not unreasonable. They just want to allow drivers to drive while they are waiting for their hard copy cdl to come in in the mail.

Read drvrtech's commit below yours. It's to cheaply move team freight.

The most damning thing in the article:

“Granting the exemption would allow the CLP holder to drive as part of a team on that trip, resulting in reduced costs and increased productivity,” the Federal Register states.

Next, they will want to hire 12 year olds from foreign country's to be exempt from U.S. Laws, so they can pay them .01 per mile to run team Frieght. I'am sure the idiots at FMCSA think this is a great idea for saftey.

The Article stated that CD permit holders must have a license CDL driver in the truck ( front seat ), but now want the driver to run solo back to the house under a load. They claim the CD permit driver has passed their qualifications as a company driver and want the FMCSA to give them an exemption for the rules?

I don't think so! What makes CR England better than the rest? There is a system and it states clearly that no Driver can solo until he has a hard copy from the DMV.

Once again the Corporations are using the Federal Government exemption to trump State Jurisdiction. I say that the driver must remain under the guidance of a trainer until he has the CDL in his possession. IF that means he has to drive from California to his home back in NY, So be it! The rules apply to all equally and fairly as they are.

    Vote NO!

Again I will remind everyone that I am not a fan of CRE, but I still don't see this as something to get worked up over and certainly doesn't open the door to foreign children working for 1 cpm.

If the driver in question has passed the dmv test what difference does it make as far as skill goes whether or not they have a hard copy in hand. I'm not sure how they run their training program but I would imagine there is still a trainer present, it just opens up the door to allow them to team. It may take a few weeks in some cases to get your hard copy if you can't get home right away and you might as well make some money while you wait.

There are thousands of reasons to hate on CRE, but I don't see this as one of them. It's just a technicality if the driver has already passed the dmv test. Now if they just threw a brand new licensed driver with no trainer into a truck cdl or not is another argument, but if you are just waiting for a piece of plastic I see no big deal here.
