Investigators are working countless hours trying the find the man they say opened fire on a FedEx ground driver with a high-powered rifle southeast of the Memphis International Airport.#
Carlos Jackson Lives around the corner from where it all happened.
"We need some kind of change here in Memphis," Jackson said. "He just doing his job, he wasn't expecting that. Now his family has to suffer tonight."
According to police, the driver of the truck was parked at the intersection of Holmes Road and Malone Road when the suspect got out of a gray or silver minivan and fired a shot from a high-powered rifle, striking the driver in the lower body around 4:40 p.m.
The victim was transported to Regional One in critical condition, where he has since been upgraded to stable condition.#
The suspect, who is still at large, is described as a black male, 35 - 40 years old and was last seen wearing a Dallas Cowboys jacket. Police say the suspect is driving a gray or silver 2002 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, tag number TN 633-YKY.

Memphis is scary for sure. I make it a point not to stop anywhere near there, or West Memphis for that matter. It's really crazy when you're safer in Newark New Jersey than in the southeast.

Memphis is a rough place..I've lived near Memphis for the most part of my life. I refuse to go to Memphis unless I just absolutely have to. Several years ago I carried a sheetrock load to a place just up the street from the Pilot on 78. Qcomm said ONP (overnight parking available), PARK AT OWN RISK, BAD NEIGHBORHOOD.
As semi said, he could have pixxed off someone, not that its any excuse to fire upon someone. However it could be gang-related, an angry husband, road rage, or someone wanting to rob a fed ex truck. This story was on the local news last night, but they have yet to find the gunman or determine a motive."semi" retired Thanks this. -
I worked for MS Carriers in Memphis in 1993-1994. I had my car parked at the terminal. I would sometimes take the car to go get something to eat etc... I never did find the good side of town.

Memphis is bad news. I would not park there overnight if you can avoid it. West Memphis isn't as bad but there are a lot
of lot lizards trolling the truck stops and the police don't like truck drivers so I would avoid parking there also.
