I've been on the fence about making an investment purchase so I ended up pulling the tirger on this 379 EXHD, It's got the mechanical CAT 3406B, 15 speed deep reduction, twin 7" slash cut stacks, and the big Vulcan air cleaners. I flew out to OH to pick it up and drove it back bobtail to NV. Over the next few months I'll be taking care of some maintenance issues and getting her all shined up again. I'll keep this thread updated with some fresh photos from time to time.

Here she is in OH right after I decaled it with my trucking credentials picking it up from the seller

Not that I know a whole lot about it, but that's a dang nice looking truck.
I hope it's not rude to briefly hijack your thread, but I was wondering about two things.

First when people refer to a truck as a "hood", is that just slang for a long nose Pete or does that have another meaning?

And in a thread talking about what truckers stereotypically typically look like, someone mentioned "having a worn out spot on your right boot to prove that you drove a hood." what's that all about? Again, sorry to hijack, just a curious young kid that likes old trucks.

Hood would be pretty much any tractor that's got a flat hood vs. the newer aero truck (or as I like to call them ant eaters) "Hood" trucks would be like a W900 Kenworth, Freightliner Classic XL, International 9900, Peterbilt 379 EXHD style truck.

I've never heard about the worn out spot on the right boot, maybe someone else can chime in.

As far as I know about the worn out spot on your boot, I'm guessing it would be from stepping onto the open space of the front bumper to stand up, grab the hood and use your body weight to pull it open. It would wear because of the grip on the open space.

My 379exhd I drove had an aluminum hood that you could open one handed with both feet on the ground. In trucking school with a classic xl, whole different stpry
