It is not elogs fault... e logs does not drive the truck or control the driver.. the driver drives the truck and manages nis or her own time and e logs is only an electronic wayof recording it... to blame e logs is remedial...

12 hours into his 14, then he's working on the 14. Could be a factor, but that's speculating.

I think it's interesting that the police confiscated the phones of BOTH the driver and the co-driver. I understand getting the driver's phone to see if he made any calls while driving just before the collision, but the co-driver? Well, I guess that's why they give the police a fishing license.

Yeah, getting the passengers phone is strange.

Well at least I learned not to blame things... I suppose when a trucker takes out a pole it is the 14 hour rule and the poles fault....

While I may have only gotten my CDL in 2009 and have only a year of recent experience in trucking, I am 50 years old and have plenty of life experience. .. my house is paid for, my harley is paid for and so is my car.. have only a year of payments on my other harley and 15 on my cabin... I earn my own way and dont blame others, regulations, or objects for things...

And, I dont believe it was the 14 hour regulation that is to blame. .. there are many drivers who have been able to figur out how to have a 14 hour day,and get enough sleep during the 10 hour reset...

The co driver may have sent out a text telling a different story of what happened... or there may be other information they can gleam from it...

I agree. Too many today are looking for excuses beyond themselves. We can gripe about the 14 hour rule and that's fine. But the operation of the truck is WHOLLY on the driver, 100% of the time. No place for excuses if you screw up. That's like blaming a gun for killing someone.
