I do not like to run 522 between Hancock, Md and Winchester, Va. A few extra miles thru Hagerstown is well worth it.
NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
That's the area I wrote about a few weeks ago about interstates and highways you have to be careful on you really have to take your time driving on some of those roads behind Winchester va prayers go out for the trucker and his family
NavigatorWife and OPUS 7 Thank this. -
Yep, gotta watch it up there.
That route is busy with trucks cutting off the corner between the I-70 and I-81.
Saves all of 23 miles going 522.
But I'd bet the slowing down, stopping, and gearing up bites into any fuel savings.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

I run 522 all the time to get to Front Royal, VA. It's not a bad road, cuts some miles off. Just a lot of pulls. You have to be aware of what you're doing.
FatDaddy Thanks this. -
Run it all the time myself when going to Front Royal. I never really considered it especially dangerous. Just got to be alert
joseph1135 Thanks this.
