I knew a guy in the mid to late 90s who was nearly killed when his load of rolled paper shifted on a corner. Those things weigh so much, there isn't really a way to secure them in a dry van, so they just sit there and let friction do it's thing. I tried to explain to one boss of mine that if something is heavy enough to just sit there, with a sudden stop it's heavy enough to keep moving.

this may well be the reason. the red trucks load may have shifted and he took the green truck with him when it happened....

The rolls in the picture aren't any worse than any heavy load but I have seen a few too many of the 5 and 7.5 foot rolls punched through the side of a dry van. Standing six 7300 pound rolls of paper on end on friction mats held down by nothing more than gravity on a flatbed is unthinkable but is a normal dry van load.I guess someone smarter than me figures paper thin aluminum sides of a van will hold them in...

I've hauled many a load of those large rolls. Drive like you have some sense, and it's a non-issue. Otherwise:
